Robert Lucian Gullette, Sr. (Uncle) (1921 - 1993)
Part attorney at law, family man, State Representative in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and an integral part of his community, there was much more to him than met the eye. The sad part of it all was that I never REALLY got to know him before his passing due to me being such a misunderstood and uncontrollable child. As a young child and pre-teen, I laid the groundwork and foundation that would end up haunting me for years when it came to strengthening family relationships, including one with Uncle Robert. At my father's funeral in Kentucky and before I came to Hollywood to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, I remember him trying to dissuade me in my decision saying that if I was going to become a lawyer or something similar, he'd be behind me but with my desire to pursue all things Hollywood, he couldn't give his blessing. That was tough to hear especially from an Uncle that I truly wanted to impress and get to know. To be honest, it hurt deeply. While I'm sure he just wanted to give me a dose of reality and was afraid for me, I don't think he realized how permanent an impression his words would have on me...even to this day.
