Stevie Ray Vaughan (1954 - 1990)
The best guitarist on the planet since Jimi Hendrix and a carrier of the blues/rock/guitar God torch. An unparalleled and unmatched genius on the electric guitar. I first heard his talents on the radio one day. The song was 'Couldn't Stand the Weather'. I was hooked from that moment on. The day I learned of his death by helicopter crash, I was completely stunned. He had just gotten over a substance abuse problem and was not only healthy but looking to the future with an uncompromising and fiercely talented vengeance. His death left a void with the electric guitar that will take many a year to fill. That void may disappear with the maturity and underrated genius that is Doyle Bramhall II. His style, looks and chops on the guitar are jaw dropping and brilliant! That being said, SRV will still be forever missed and is irreplaceable.
